Description

As we are no longer Santa Cruz dealers, their guitars can be a bit hard to come by - meaning that when one like this gorgeous 2016 OM Pre-War makes its way into our store, we leap at the opportunity to put it on the wall. As with everything we've seen from Richard Hoover and his shop, the OM/PW is exemplary of the some of the very finest in modern American luthiery, but this one, as a custom piece, remains a unique guitar that we're proud to represent for its owner. An Adirondack spruce top and an Indian rosewood back and sides combine to form a tried-and-true foundation for the guitar's sound, with balanced highs and lows as well as an impressive amount of presence and jump. Scalloped X-bracing also lends the OM/PW a long sustain time and some impressive volume, making this instrument one of only a small handful of orchestral model guitars that can readily handle bluegrass flatpicking. Above all, it's hard to get over the gorgeous, Gibson-esque sunburst, added as a custom upgrade to this guitar.

This instrument has an average to below-average amount of playing wear, and is in very good condition. Most of the visible wear is in the form of picking marks on the top, including a long, shallow divot on the lower bout, about three inches below the bridge. All wear is fairly minimal and only visible when examined closely under oblique lighting. There is also a small amount of wear on the back, primarily on the treble side where the back meets the sides, right at the guitar's waist. As an aftermarket addition, this guitar's owner added a K&K Pure Mini passive piezo pickup, meaning the original endpin is now gone. Finally, the instrument's owner affixed a number of stickers to the case, which we have neglected to remove. This case is original and is included in our price.
