Description

It's another stunner from Rickard Banjos - a mighty, powerful open-back with a 12" pot that's quickly become a staff favorite. This full-bodied instrument, which was built in or around 2016, features an all-mahogany construction with a Dobson-style tone ring for a huge amount of warmth, low-end, and power that allow it to fill out the bottom of a string band. Bill Rickard's banjos have become well-known for their perfectly carved necks, and this one is exemplary of some of the best work we've seen come out of his Ontario-based shop. Appointments are very minimal, with no headstock overlays or fancy fretboard inlays, lending it a modest and graceful style for players who prefer to let the music do the talking.

This banjo comes to us in very good condition, with no cosmetic scuffs, scratches, or dents and very little playing wear. Apart from minor wear on the head, almost nothing distinguishes this instrument from a new one, making it a great value for the player ready to take their clawhammer to the next level. The owner put a few stickers on the case, which we have neglected to remove (see photo). The case is original and is included in the price.
