Description
For those of us looking for truly authentic old-time tone, there's nothing quite like a fretless open-back - and this Pisgah Appalachian sits near the top of the heap among fretless options currently in production. With a warm, plucky tone perfectly suited for solo clawhammer, this banjo sports a distinct and unmistakable tonal character all its own, bolstered by way of its all-walnut construction and a rolled brass tone ring. As with all of Pisgah's instruments, the playability is excellent, with one of Patrick's legendary hand-milled necks that seems to have stepped right out of a bygone era. While cosmetics err towards the more tasteful side, we're big fans of the aged brass hardware, persimmon fingerboard, and the rustic finishing touches that lend this instrument some real old-time cred. Included in the price is a padded Pisgah gig bag, manufactured for the company by Access.
