Ode Banjos are real Colorado classics, with a long history intertwined with Ome Banjo Company that have made them mainstays of Rocky Mountain bluegrass and folk for decades. This 1975 Ode Model 6510 dates from when the company was owned by Baldwin, but despite the ownership change, Odes were still being made in Boulder and were excellent instruments with a bright, clear sound and a chiming treble response. This 6510 features mahogany construction, a cast aluminum pot, and an archtop tone ring, as well as classic 70s visual appointments and elegant touches like quarter-sawn rosewood overlays and veneers. While not as well known as some of Gibson's flagship models, this resonator would be a great fit for intermediate to advanced players who want something distinctive and all their own.

While this instrument clearly has seen some playing time, it arrived in our store in very good condition, with only some minor cosmetic wear. Most visible are some dents and divots in the resonator as well as some wear on the bass side of the fingerboard in first position, as well as light crazing throughout the banjo's finish. There is a wear pattern in the banjo's head consistent with most three-finger play. Additionally, the fifth string tuner appears to be non-original. A decal on the back of the headstock advertises that this instrument was originally sold at Bobby's Music, an old Denver music store which is unfortunately no longer in business. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
