Description

We've been fans of Northfield Mandolins for some time now at the Denver Folklore Center, but this mint 2021 NFM-A5 is the only one we've as of yet had for sale. It's a great example of the company's Michigan-made lines, which, while not commanding the high price of anything built in their Qingdao luthiery, is a more than adequate instrument with a lovely, punchy sound. The NFM-A5 features Engelmann spruce on the top for crisp highs, and red maple on the back and sides, and its sound is somewhat raspy and sports an impressive amount of midrange, not unlike the sound of a high-end F-style mandolin. A varnish finish and ebony pickguard complete the package visually, lending the mandolin a graceful, understated beauty.

This instrument was barely played by its owner and is still in mint condition, with virtually no signs of picking wear or scuffing that would separate it from a brand new mandolin. Regardless, as the instrument is still a used one, we've priced it accordingly. Included in the price is the original Airloom hard-shell case.
