Description

While we've had some truly great 12-strings in our store over the last few years, none have exuded the sheer class and premium workmanship as this gorgeous 2018 M12-18 from Martin's Custom Shop. Built in Martin's jumbo M shape (sometimes referred to colloquially as a quadruple 0), this fantastic, big-bodied instrument has a powerful voice to match its formidable dimensions. Like all its 18 series cousins, the M12-18 features a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, but these woods have been upgraded from the stock grades to an Adirondack spruce top and beautifully figured cuts of sinker mahogany for the guitar's back and sides. But it doesn't stop there - this instrument also features Martin's Golden Era Adirondack rearward-shifted X-bracing, with a deeper and more aggressive scallop than the standard scalloped bracing used across the board on Martin's Standard Series, and features the company's Golden Age relic nickel tuners with black buttons to add to the guitar's classic, pre-war aesthetic. If all that's not enough, it also features one of the most beautiful Ambertone finishes on top that we've ever seen from Martin.

This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition, with a below-average amount of playing wear, most of which is confined to the top. There are no cracks or any structural damage that compromises the guitar's integrity, and the neck angle is straight with a small amount of relief that keeps it nicely playable in the lower positions. It has recently seen a full set up including a top-to-bottom professional fret dress, and is ready to go for its next chapter in the hands of a musician not interested in settling for second-best. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
