Description

Pickers looking for the biggest and best low end a dreadnaught has to offer need look no further than this 2019 Martin HD-35, one of the hidden gems in the company's Standard Series. With a three-piece Indian rosewood back and scalloped forward-shifted X-bracing, this six-string is absolutely thunderous and responds incredibly well to a heavy right hand. Martin complete the package with a Sitka spruce top, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge for a tried-and-true design that has remained consistent for over 50 years. Visually, this HD-35 fits nicely into Martin's lineup with a bound fingerboard, herringbone purfling, and particularly exquisite figuring in the rosewood used on the back.

This guitar arrived in our store in very good condition. Overall playing wear is relatively light, although a long center seam crack extends from the bottom of the bridge to the bottom of the lower bout. This crack has been glued, cleated, and should not reopen provided proper humidification. The finish has also begun to pull into the wood and break in to more of a semi-gloss earlier than expected. The pickguard appears to be non-original. This guitar has just seen a full set up including a complete fret dress, level, and crown, and plays extremely well in all positions, with action amenable to bluegrass flatpicking. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
