Martin HD-28 (2015)

Description

While we love an old dreadnaught with some road wear on it just as much as the next guy, there's also something to be said for a "time capsule" guitar like this 2015 Martin HD-28, which somehow arrived in our store in truly mint condition. Played for just a few hours by its one owner, this remarkable six-string feels and looks brand new even while technically being used - meaning you get a heck of a deal on the price without any of the chips and scuffs that often accompany used instruments. Its somewhat uncanny condition notwithstanding, this bluegrass cannon has a wonderful tone with a huge, resonant low end that practically tied our hands when it came time to decide whether we wanted it on our sales floor. Just like its close cousin, the D-28, the HD-28 features a spruce top and rosewood back and sides for a powerful tone that has filled out the low mids in stringbands for decades. Scalloped bracing adds sustain and bass, and Martin completes the package with herringbone purfling on the top.

As mentioned above, this instrument is in mint condition with no identifying wear to separate it from a brand new guitar - right down to the slip cover on the pickguard. It required no repair or set up work upon arrival in our store and is still set to Martin's Nazareth factory spec. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
