Description

Martin D-28s famously sound better with time and play, and this one, from 2008, is really starting to become the guitar it's always wanted to be, with a loud, brassy tone perfect for a bluegrass picker. Over the last 13 years, the cuts of spruce and rosewood have opened up to an impressive degree, giving it wonderful volume and a booming low end that simply can't be had from a bright and tight D-28 that just rolled off the line at Martin's Nazareth factory. As America's favorite guitar and the premier acoustic instrument for bluegrass, country, rock and folk, the D-28 is about as known of a quantity as any model of guitar out there, and most players will understand what they're getting into when they sit down with this well-loved instrument. This particular instrument is also a special commemorative model for Martin's 175th anniversary, and features a diamond volute on the back of the neck and a special engraving on the interior to commemorate Martin's storied history.

This guitar has seen a significant amount of playing time from multiple owners and there is a good amount of visible playwear, including a number of pick marks and scuffs on the top, a repaired crack on the guitar's left flank, some scuffing on the back (likely from a belt buckle), and some minor water damage to the top. Fretwear is fairly minimal and probably indicates that the frets were dressed, leveled, and crowned pretty recently. All damage to the guitar is cosmetic, and does not impact sound or playability. The set up is very good, with versatile action conducive to many styles of play. The current owner put a number of stickers on the case, which we have not removed. Given the visible playwear, we consider the guitar to be in good condition and have priced it accordingly.
