While Martin as a manufacturer are of course synonymous with the steel-string guitar, it bears noting that they made some terrific nylon-string instruments too, particularly during the 60s folk revival. This vintage 00-18C, dating from 1965, is a great example of the company's best classicals from the 1960s, with an open, warm sound perfect for gentle fingerpicking by lyric-forward singer/songwriters. Just like a standard 18 series Martin, the 00-18C combines a Sitka spruce top with a mahogany neck, back, and sides, and features similar cosmetic touches that make it an unmistakable member of one of Martin's most classic and popular lines. It's a great choice for any steel-string player looking to branch out into the nylon world who wants a familiar feel, a trusted name, and legendary vintage tone, too.

This guitar arrived in our store in very good condition, with a below-average amount of wear given its age. The top features about the typical amounts of dents and divots, with some clear wear to the right of the soundhole from times at which the guitar was obviously played with a pick. Likewise, there's an average to below-average amount of scuffing on the back, and a small amount on the headstock. A small, hairline crack extends up from the bottom of the fingerboard to the top of the 13th fret. This is the only crack on the guitar and provided proper humidification, it should not open or get worse. This instrument has recently seen a full professional set up and a bridge reglue and plays great in all positions. Included in the price is a non-original hard-shell case, which shows significant wear, including a missing handle. Replacement handles, or other case options, are available upon request.
