Description
Affordable and premium have never been mutually exclusive words at Eastman Strings, but even so, we're remarkably impressed with the MD-504, one of the prettiest and best-playing A-style oval holes in its price range. With a spruce top and a maple neck, back, and sides, this instrument has all the clear, shimmering trebles players look for out of a mandolin, plus the naturally rich midrange and full-bodied sustain that only an oval soundhole provides. Eastman have cast this one in a full gloss Classic sepia finish, which nicely compliments the grained ivoroid binding and the natural figuring in the wood. This is a fantastic option for players beginning Celtic, Americana, or classical mandolin, and is the rare cost-conscious instrument that pickers can expect to grow with, not out of. Included in the price is a hard-shell case.
