Description

This guitar is the fruit that came forth from the collaboration between Bill Collings and guitarist Julian Lage. The OM1 JL shares a lot of what the Collings Traditional series guitars are based on; most notably a prewar scalloped X-Brace (with no tongue brace) and emphasis on tonewood voicing to match the tonal response of a pre-war guitar. The neck is unique compared to other Collings guitars in that it is based off of the shape of Julian's 1949 000-18. The nut width is 1-11/16", and the asymmetrical contours have been recreated to achieve a comfortable worn in feel. They also extended the scale a bit to the full 25.5" length in order to add more presence and note definition. A thin satin lacquer finish lends a vintage inspired look to the instrument and lets the voice remain open and responsive. As an added aesthetic touch, the OM1 JL features the early style script logo seen only on the early guitars made by Bill Collings. This is one you truly have to see (and hear) to believe, and it is no wonder that it is a shop favorite.
