It is undeniable that the instruments made by the fine folks at Collings Guitars and Mandolins are as much fun to look at as they are to play. This new Collings MT O Mandolin is especially outstanding for it's one piece Eastern Flamed Maple back- which is some of the nicest figuring on maple we have ever seen on an instrument. In the instrument manufacturing process it is quite rare to find a piece of maple this large that is also so highly figured. This is the reason that the majority of instruments are found with a "bookmatched" two piece back.
Oval hole mandolins are known for their deep bass-rich sonority and yet the long scale of this Collings Mandolin allows for great tonal clarity and stridance without any bass sacrifice. The mandolin is almost equivalent in volume to its "F soundhole" mandolin counterparts that are often used in bluegrass yet with a sound more appropriate for classical, Irish, or old time.
Also included with this new Collings MT-O Mandolin is a lovely Collings Deluxe Hardshell Case made by TKL and the Collings Manufacturer Limited Lifetime Warranty.
