You really can't go wrong with any Bourgeois that you pick up, but for guitarists who love the sound and feel of Gibson's iconic J-50 guitar, this handsome Bourgeois Slope D from the company's Professional Series fits the bill, as well as boasting the extra features and attention to detail that Dana's guitars have become famous for. Just like you'd find on a J-50, the Slope D features a tight-grained Sitka spruce top and some lustrous mahogany on the back and sides, and features a slope dreadnaught shape with a short (24 and 7/8ths of an inch) scale length. But Bourgeois guitars are far from just copies of classics: while they may take a famous instrument for inspiration, the handiwork and tonal complexity puts it into another category entirely from anything in mass production. Dana Bourgeois takes a hands-on role in tuning and selecting the cuts of wood, putting decades of experience to work in ensuring the guitar sounds as rich as possible, and the fine attention paid to the construction and visual appointments make this a truly modern take on a classic design. Included in the price is a hard-shell case built for Bourgeois Guitars by TKL.
