Bourgeois pride themselves on building guitars with vintage sound, style, and specs, so it's a lot of fun to see one come into our store with a little of playwear under its belt, like this gorgeous D Country Boy Sunburst from 2003. The Country Boy picks up where a Martin D-18 leaves off - that is, the vital sound of Sitka spruce and mahogany in a big, dreadnaught-size body. This Country Boy also features a deep sunburst finish on the top for some added country and western style. Players familiar with the sound of a mahogany-backed dreadnaught will already know what they're getting into here, but unless they've played a Bourgeois before, they'll be heretofore unfamiliar with the tremendously detailed and rich sound that all of Dana's guitars feature. The top wood is a quadruple-A cut of Sitka spruce, lending a particularly impressive chime to the guitar's top end, not unlike what one would find in a comparable cut of Engelmann spruce.
This guitar shows little playwear for one coming up on its 20th birthday, but there is a minor amount of pick wear in the top and some very minor finish wear on the neck, near the heel. We consider it to be on the upper end of very good condition. Included in the price is the original hardshell case, made for Bourgeois Guitars by TKL.
