Bishline Okie (2019)

Description

Rob Bishline may primarily be known as a resonator builder, but this 2019 Okie shows that the Tulsa-based banjo master can make open-backs with the very best of them. Rob combines a mahogany neck with a maple pot and an absolutely seismic Dobson tone ring for a complex, bright, and above all, loud tone that fits nicely into a traditional old time string band or even an Americana-forward folk rock group while still retaining the legendary playability and set up that have made Bishlines a high-end name in the world of the five-string for decades. The deluxe tone is matched with gorgeous aesthetics, including aged brass hardware, abalone inlay work on the headstock, and gold Gotoh tuners that combine function and form for a playing experience that simply feels right from your first brush stroke.

This instrument arrived in our store in excellent condition, with very little in the way of playing wear that might separate it from a brand new instrument. There is a slight visible seam and some glue residue on the back of the pot between two of the layers of maple, but this appears to have been done at the Bishline shop rather than as evidence of repair. All parts are original, and the set up is excellent, with very low, comfortable action and a straight neck. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
