Despite building for 40 years, Marc Beneteau still remains one of the greatest secrets in the world of boutique guitars. The Canadian luthier has an incredible skill for making playable and present mid-sized six-strings that really have to be picked on to be believed. Given that, it was a no-brainer for us to take in this beautiful 2000 000 12-Fret, which provides an excellent example of all of Beneteau's best traits as a builder. The small, ergonomic body and sleek Venetian cutaway make this guitar a dream to play, and a perfect set up and slim neck make it a great tool for contemporary fingerstyle. Mr. Beneteau also spared no expense on the tonewoods, combining a spruce top with old-stock Brazilian rosewood for premium construction that can't really be found in anything other than a craft shop guitar. We're thrilled to have it in our store, and will be even more excited to hand it off to its next owner.
There is an average to below average amount of playing wear on this guitar, with a handful of dents and divots in the top and back, though none that significantly impact the visual appeal of the instrument. Additionally, there is an above-average amount of finish checking (considering the age of the guitar) and the finish has begun the natural process of pulling into the grain of the wood earlier than expected. The guitar has not seen any major repairs, and the set up is very good. The previous owner also had an active bridge plate pickup installed, which we have not been able to definitively identify. Overall, we consider the guitar to be in very good condition. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
