Baxendale Conversions Silvertone H621

Description

Scott Baxendale's flat-top conversions are some of the most exciting instruments we've had in our store in a long time - his blend of old tonewoods with new-school luthiery is something totally unique and perfectly suited to our shop. This Silvertone H621, dating from the early to mid 1960s when the line was still manufactured by Sears Roebuck, boasts all solid wood construction, with a spruce top and a birch back, neck, and sides. The natural richness of the decades-old wood has been bolstered by Baxendale's modifications, replacing the guitar's old, clunky ladder bracing with brand new, modern X-bracing, improving the volume, richness, and sustain, especially up the neck. Scott also reglued the bridge, planed down the fingerboard, and replaced the original tuners with more usable Grover open-gear options. The sum total is a guitar that combines the new and the vintage in a way that we can't help but love.

This guitar's cosmetic condition is good, with roughly the typical amount of wear and tear as would be seen on most 60-year-old instruments. While sound and playability have been revamped, no refinishing work or elective repairs have been performed, and interested parties should note that this is still fundamentally a used guitar and will not look or feel new. Included in the price is a non-original Recording King gig bag.
