Description
Taylor's new Gold Label series seems to mark out a new direction for the company - these outstanding new boutique options from the San Diego-based manufacturer all seem to effortlessly fuse the vintage with the modern and add a new dimension to an already excellent lineup. This 814e is the first Gold Label model we've had in our shop, and every one of us on staff have been wowed by its big sound, responsive set up, and neo-traditionalist aesthetic. The Gold Label 814e combines a torrefied spruce top with an ultra-premium Honduran rosewood back and sides crafted into Taylor's new Super Auditorium shape, a jumbo option that sizes just slightly under their Grand Symphony shape. Under the hood, the company's head luthiers have modified their proprietary V-class bracing system with a new, fanned design and a tonal route for a more classic, storied tone and a remarkably present midrange for a rosewood guitar. Taylor utilize extensive abalone and hardwood inlays in combination with grained ivoroid for a visual calling card that evokes classic American jumbo guitars of years past while remaining fresh. Finally, it comes with an L.R. Baggs Element VTC active pickup system pre-installed, for a punchy and warm voice when amplified. This is a bold and exciting new direction for Taylor, and a guitar we were thrilled to see arrive in our store. Included in the price is a Gold Label hard-shell case.
