Description
While known primarily for their flat-top steel-string guitars, Czechia's Rozawood builds some of the very finest fretted instruments of all types, including this beautiful 2010 guitar-bodied bouzouki. Taking after the company's 14-fret Lady body shape, this remarkably rich eight-string combines a tight, bearclawed alpine spruce top with a highly flamed maple neck, back, and sides for a truly outstanding sound. Likely added as custom shop upgrades were a celluloid dalmatian pickguard, a pau ferro bridge and fingerboard, and a gorgeous black walnut headstock overlay, ensuring that this bouzouki not only sounds like none other but looks like none other, too. An L.R. Baggs Lyric pickup system has been added as well, likely as an aftermarket alteration.
This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition. Cosmetic wear is relatively typical to below typical for a 15-year-old instrument, with a few minor chips and divots centering primarily on the top. There is a small gouge in the neck in first position, roughly just under where the player's left thumb would sit. None of the cosmetic wear significantly compromises the instrument's aesthetic appeal. There is no evidence of major repair, and the set up is excellent, with impressively low, comfortable action up and down the neck, and a rich, full-bodied sound. As mentioned above, the pickup was likely installed aftermarket rather than at Rozawood at the time of the instrument's initial purchase. Included in the price is a non-original hard-shell case, manufactured by Hiscox.
