Description
Andy Poe's instruments have attracted a lot of attention over the past few years, as the luthier's innovative designs mesh new ideas with the rich history of the American mandolin for something both modern as well as familiar. This 2013 Commodore Mandoquin fits the bill rather nicely - this versatile and finely crafted flat-top can be strung and played as a mandolin, mandola, or baritone ukulele with doubled courses. While we currently have it set up as a mandola, premium Sitka spruce and Mexican rosewood give the Mandoquin a great, full-bodied sound regardless of what tuning you like to play in. Mr. Poe's careful finishing work and attention to detail are evident throughout with subtle cosmetic touches including rope binding and a fleur-de-lis inlay on the headstock.
This instrument arrived in our store with next to no playing wear aside from a small amount of scuffs that center around the bridge. The set up is very good, and has been tested with both mandola tuning as well as baritone ukulele tuning. We consider it to be in excellent condition. Included in the price is the hard-shell case originally included with the Mandoquin at the time of purchase.
