Description
As Pava Knesevic is set to hang up the spurs within the next year, her astounding mandolins seem a safe bet to only ascend in reputation - not to mention price. Get ahead of the curve by getting your hands on this wonderful A4 Professional from 2021, a lightly used oval-hole A-style that has already begun to open up into a stunning instrument for old time, Americana, Celtic, and classical music and will only get better with age. This model features a bound body, fingerboard, headstock, and ebony pickguard complimented by a sunburst gloss varnish finish, and combines Adirondack red spruce with figured maple for an extraordinary, classic tone. Other appointments, like gold Gotoh tuners and delicate inlay work on the headstock help this mandolin look just as good as it sounds. It's exemplary of Pava's best work.
We consider this instrument to be in very good condition. Overall playwear is light, although there are a few dents and scratches, including two moderately sized ones on the back, one on the top near the widest point on the treble side, and one on the headstock. None significantly compromise the visual appeal of the instrument. There is also a typical to below-typical amount of scuffing on the pickguard, as is consistent with almost all used instruments. The previous owner had a figured maple armrest installed which fits the aesthetic of the A4 very well, but it can be removed should a new owner want to return it to stock condition. It plays very well in all positions and the neck is very straight. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case, on which were attached a few stickers by the previous owner.
