Description

For more than a century now, National Resophonic have been the first and last name in the world of the steel guitar - even their more affordable options, like this 2005 Delphi, are replete with the tone and the ineffable X factor that make these instruments so desirable. A more affordable version of their longtime flagship Triolian models, the Delphi was a short-lived option aimed at getting acoustic blues players into the resonator guitar for less than an arm and a leg. The hand-spun aluminum cone is a genuine Resophonic Hot Rod, no longer available new and renowned for their warmth and mellow top end. Aesthetics are very slightly more minimal than on the Triolian, with a brushed nickel finish rather than polished, but still sporting beautiful fretboard inlays and an ultra-authentic ivoroid headstock overlay.

This instrument arrived in our store on the upper end of very good condition, with an excellent set up and only fairly minor cosmetic wear. The sole aftermarket alteration made has been the installation of a K&K Pure Resonator Biscuit Bridge, replacing the original bridge. The pickup jack is routed through the G hole. There is very mild rust and tarnish on the original diamond sieve coverplate; we do not think it poses a threat to the plate's structural integrity. This is a fantastic introduction to the world of the round-neck resonator that won't be in our shop for long. Included in the price is a non-original hard-shell case.
