As we're not Larrivée dealers here at the Denver Folklore Center, we don't get to see as many of them as we might like - which makes it all the more special when one comes through our store on consignment. They've gradually become some of the most coveted steel-strings on the market, and vintage ones, like this beautiful 00-05 from 1996, are even more sought-after. Built at their Vancouver factory, which closed in 2013, the 00-05 features a parlor-style body, a full 25.5" scale length, and a 12-fret neck, giving it a playfeel unlike any other small-bodied guitar. This makes it a very versatile instrument for both fingerpicking and strumming - it almost seems to change to fit the style and personality of the player. The cedar top and mahogany back and sides give the 00-05 a vibrant, classic voice, which has opened up nicely over several decades of play. It's a great instrument that makes for an ideal fit for almost anyone who's looking for a small bodied guitar.
We consider this guitar to be in very good condition, especially considering its age. There is very little in the way of scuffing on the top, back, sides, or neck, with only a small finish crack on the guitar's left side, which does not extend to the mahogany underneath. There is an expected amount of scuffing on the pickguard, which is still just barely visible under bright light. There's also some minor wear and separation where the neck binding meets the guitar's top, only visible when examined closely. The set up is very good, with low action and a full professional fret dress to eliminate fret wear on the strings. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
