Hurdy Gurdy Crafters Minuet (2018)
Description
The hurdy gurdy may not be our usual fare here at the Denver Folklore Center, but this 2018 Minuet model, built by Mel and Ann Dorriers of Michigan's Hurdy Gurdy Crafters, was simply too lovely of an instrument for us to pass up. The Minuet is a three-string model aimed at beginning players who want a high-quality student instrument, and is made with premium materials and components that readily separate it from budget or kit models. Set up for D/G tuning, the Minuet has a fairly mellow and warm tone with balanced highs, brightened by a solid spruce soundboard and a body made with solid cuts of mahogany. Aesthetic appointments are minimal, with no headstock, round soundholes, and no engraving, but the adeptness of HGC's craftsmanship is evident in every curve and contour of the instrument. This is an ideal gurdy for student players and a fun conversation piece that we enjoy having on our sales floor.
This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition, with playing wear limited to mild scuffing and wear on the back and around the edges, likely from buttons or zippers chafing against the finish. The action is good, and all hardware, including the crank, tangents, and guitar-style Gotoh tuners, is in good working condition. Included in the price is the original soft-shell case, as well as two method books, an owner's manual, a strap, and necessary accessories like cotton and rosin.
*Please note, per our return policy, all sales on used and consignment instruments are final.*
