This used Gibson L-48 Archtop is in extraordinary condition for an instrument 60 years in age. We had to breakout the flashlight and magnifying glass on this one and closely inspect the finish to make sure that it was indeed original and not over sprayed. Fine checking is evident throughout the body but is very tight and nearly invisible from a short distance. Both the bridge and pickguard are original but the tuners have been replaced with modern period correct Kluson Deluxe tuners. In addition the tailpiece has been replaced and in the process the bottom mounting hole was plugged and finished over. A few scratches and dings do mar the finish but nothing major is of structural concern.

Tonally the guitar is sweet and mellow and has a voice that lends itself to both jazz, Western swing, or Carter Family style bluegrass. The instruments intonation is true up the neck and accompanied by smooth playing low action. Overall this guitar would make a fine addition to the collection of a player looking for a classic archtop sound in excellent condition and for sale at an affordable price.

Also included is a gigantic used gig bag that will comfortably hold and protect such an awesome guitar.
