Description
A few quiet decades without mandolin production have turned out to merely be the calm before the storm at Gibson's Nashville factory - and that storm is a Category 5. The company's newly reimagined F5 model has reminded pickers the world over of why these instruments have remained the gold standard in bluegrass music from the moment Lloyd Loar first drew up his blueprints for the model in 1922. The new F5s come stock with a Sitka spruce top, a red maple neck, back, and sides, and this one is shot in a gorgeous, full-gloss dark cherry burst finish (since after all, nobody does a burst like Gibson). Mandolinists everywhere are bound to love the F5's broad, rich tonal response, with clear lows and low mids right off the shelf. Gibson complete the package visually with a flowerpot headstock inlay and a "The Gibson" wordmark, paying homage to their incredible history as the first and last name in these instruments. Included in the price is a Gibson hard-shell case.
