You just can't beat the bright, chiming tone of a B45-12 - especially this one, which has opened up remarkably over almost 60 years of play. While it was at the time one of Gibson's more affordable 12-strings, every curve and contour of the B45 betrays the impressive craftsmanship and approach to building that can sometimes be hard to find in a modern instrument. A solid Sitka spruce top lends it a clear tone replete with volume, presence, and projection, suiting it well for applications both on stage as well as in the recording booth. It even comes with the original adjustable bridge, which were common on Gibsons of this era but have often by now been replaced on the B45s that have made it all the way to today.
Playing wear is below typical for a guitar of this age, although there are a couple salient dents and divots on the top, mostly centering on the guitar's waist and around the tailpiece. Finish checking is consistent with most Gibsons of this era, with extensive, fine crazing on the top, back, sides, neck, and peghead. While most parts are original, the tailpiece is not, and has been replaced with a visually similar one, probably within the last ten years. Overall, we consider the guitar to be in very good condition considering its vintage. This instrument has long since lost its original chipboard case, and now comes with a non-original hard-shell case instead.
