Description
Collings' MT2 is one of the manufacturer's very finest A-style mandolins, with a rich, warm sound and gorgeous cosmetic upgrades that transform it into a truly deluxe instrument. This one, from 2013, sets itself apart from the pack with some figured bird's eye maple on the back and sides, and a bright red cherry-burst finish, which the company no longer offers on its production A-styles. The tone is classic Collings, with warm mids and sparkling trebles that make it a perfect instrument for progressive bluegrass and Americana, as well as highly present overtones that almost demand to be put on record. The MT2 comes with a full gloss finish, adding a little bit of extra visual pop, as well.
This instrument has little in the way of play wear, with only very minor finish scuffs on the top and virtually none on the neck, back, or sides. The set up is low and very playable in all positions, with a straight neck that easily accommodates hands of all sizes. The previous owner of the instrument had a beautiful flamed maple pickguard installed, which can be removed should the new owner wish to return the instrument entirely to factory specs. We consider it to be in very good condition. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
