Collings 02H T (2020)

Description

A Collings dreadnaught is a great thing, but in the world of the small-bodied steel string, there's truly no substitute. Take this gorgeous, barely played 2020 02H T, from the company's Traditional series - it's everything a 14-fret single-aught should be and more, with a clear, present tone, especially when fingerpicked. Stock, this model pairs a Sitka spruce top with an Indian rosewood back and sides for a highly present, bell-like sound with rich lows and clear trebles, bolstered even further by scalloped pre-war style bracing, but Traditional series appointments up the premium nature of the guitar even further, with an ultra-thin lacquer finish, a more minimal bracing system, and animal protein glue construction, lending the 02H T a more direct, vintage, and open tone right out of the box. Classic appointments include hardwood herringbone purfling, grained ivoroid binding, and both abalone and mother-of-pearl inlay work for a visual calling card that pays homage to the long history of classic American small-bodied guitars.

This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition, with little in the way of playing wear to distinguish it from a brand new one. There is no structural damage to the guitar whatsoever, and the set up and action are both excellent. A K&K Pure Mini passive piezo pickup has been installed as an aftermarket alteration; as Collings glues the endpins into their guitars, the original endpin was destroyed as part of the pickup installation and does not come with the instrument. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
