Description
Despite how it may appear in photos or on the spec sheet, the Collings 0001 is far, far more than just a boutique copy of a 12-fret 000-18 - it has a unique sound all its own that can be tough to pin down, describe, or compare to other guitars. While the tried-and-true tonewood combination of a Sitka spruce top and a Honduran mahogany neck, back, and sides may give a hint as to the voice of this instrument, we find that its bright, complex, and loud voice shifts away from the Martin-like warmth one might expect in favor of new territory rarely touched by other guitar builders. This is an incredible tool for both progressive fingerstyle guitar as well as modern crosspicking, and its unique timbre seems to ask to be used in unique music, giving new life and character to wide chord voicings and extended harmony. That modern voice is housed in a traditionalist body, with minimal appointments and an understated class that will appeal to acoustic musicians of all backgrounds. Included in the price is a Collings hard-shell case, manufactured for the company by TKL.
