Lots of serious guitar players make their way into our store looking for an instrument with a big, lively sound - something maybe more characteristic of a vintage guitar than of a brand new one, which may still sound tight and pristine. We hand those tough-to-impress customers a Bourgeois, and few make a better first impression than this Generation R D, one of the richest sounding dreadnaughts we've ever seen from the Lewiston, Maine-based luthiery. Very few instruments can really emulate vintage sound and feel despite being brand new, but this one is equal to the task, thanks to Dana Bourgeois' commitment to building and tuning by hand, as well as premium grade tonewoods on the top, back and sides. On top, we have torrefied Sitka spruce, lending the Generation R D a clear, bell-like timbre, and the back and sides are Indian rosewood, part of what helps give this guitar such a rumbling low end. Internal bracing has been hand-scalloped, improving the instrument's sustain and volume, and meaning you don't really even have to play that hard to get your tone to cut through the sound of your band. Aesthetics err on the more tasteful side of things, but the craftsmanship and astounding attention to detail make the Generation R D a beautiful guitar by any measure. Rest assured, this is a lifetime instrument. Included in the price is a Bourgeois hard-shell case, manufactured for the company by TKL.
