Baxendale Conversions Stella H940
Description
To say Scott Baxendale's vintage conversions have proven to be a good fit for our store is a huge understatement - these revamped and modernized flat-tops practically scream Folklore Center from top to bottom. This one, a customized Stella H940 from the early to mid 1960s, boasts a big, powerful tone by virtue of decades of playing time, as well as the adjustments and modifications Baxendale performs as part of his standard conversion process. Most notably, the original ladder bracing on the inside has been replaced with X-bracing for a fuller, richer, and more complex tone, especially as one moves up the neck. The new, replacement bridge perfectly matches the color and wood grain of the original fingerboard, and the original tuners have been upgraded to non-original open-gear Grovers. As a result, this H940 looks and feels vintage, but sounds rich and full with a mighty punch whenever the player digs their right hand in.
This guitar's cosmetic condition is good, with roughly the typical amount of wear and tear as would be seen on most 60-year-old instruments. While sound and playability have been revamped, no refinishing work or elective repairs have been performed, and interested parties should note that this is still fundamentally a used guitar and will not look or feel new. Included in the price is a non-original Recording King gig bag.
