Description
Martin's Style 3M was one of its upscale models back in 1931, and while all-mahogany sopranos may not quite be all the rage like they were a century ago, this punchy little instrument still stands apart from the rest of the pack as maybe the very finest ukulele we have in our shop at the moment. A lot of that rich, ultra-authentic tone can be chalked up to Martin's obviously legendary level of craftsmanship over the Depression years, when sales of ukes literally saved the company from bankruptcy - but plenty more come simply as a result of the instrument opening up over nearly 100 years of aging and playing in. The 3M sports some beautiful cosmetic upgrades which are very much of their time, including the distinctive center-striped fingerboard and the mustache ivoroid inlay at the bottom of the lower bout.
This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition. The most notable and obvious damage are three cracks - one on the back, and two on the top, beneath the bridge. All three have been reglued and should not reopen provided proper care by the instrument's next owner. Overall cosmetic condition is very good relative to the instrument's age, with a fairly uniform amount of cosmetic wear, with most centering on the back of the headstock and the instrument's top. All parts are original. The set up is excellent, and the instrument plays very well in all positions with very comfortable action. Included in the price is a non-original gig bag, likely an upgrade over the chipboard case included with the 3M at its initial time of purchase.
*Please note, per our return policy, all sales on used and consignment instruments are final.*
