Description
No use beating around the bush on this one - you are highly unlikely to ever play a mandola better than this stunning MT2 model from the good people at Collings. A bolstered version of their baseline MT, the more deluxe MT2 features a full gloss finish, a double-bound body, and more extensive inlay work, as well as a genuine Adirondack spruce top for clearer tone at higher volumes. Those cuts of Adirondack are a match made in heaven for the mandola, whose larger neck, longer scale length, and bigger resonating body give it loads of volume well beyond what you'll hear from any equivalent mandolin. This is a remarkably powerful instrument with especially rich lows and mids ready to fill up the lower register in a Celtic stringband or anywhere else. We opted for Collings' beautiful Honey Amber finish to help accentuate the natural figuring in the tonewoods, which also contrast nicely with the tortoise shell binding and black tuning buttons. Included in the price is a Collings hard-shell case, manufactured for the company by TKL.
