Description

As arguably the company's flagship instrument, Taylor's 814ce Builder's Edition has always felt like the platonic ideal of the California-based manufacturer's approach to sound, style, and luthiery. That hasn't changed - but the improvements made to the model as part of the company's Next Generation production refresh has helped to push new things to the forefront and given us new reasons to recommend this always-exceptional guitar. With an Adirondack spruce top and a Honduran rosewood back and sides, the Next Generation 814ce Builder's Edition leaves nothing on the table in terms of tonewood selection, with an incredibly rich and three-dimensional tone that feels remarkably full even on single-note runs and bright, close chord voicings. The newly scalloped V-class bracing turns those tonal attributes up to eleven, adding a longer and richer sustain than ever before. Taylor have also made the 814ce Builder's Edition easier than ever to adjust to the player's unique specifications, with an action-control neck joint, which allows for quick changes to the neck angle. It also now comes with the company's new Claria active pickup system, for a more versatile and adaptable tone than the Expression 2. Finally, Taylor have of course spared no expense on this guitar's cosmetic appointments, with a shaded edgeburst finish and extensive inlay work in hardwood, abalone, and mother-of-pearl. This is a truly premium option for guitarists who are not interested in making any compromises on their lifetime acoustic/electric, and we're proud to have it in our showroom. Included in the price is a Taylor hard-shell case.
