Description
The runaway success of Taylor's Gold Label guitars gets a fresh face with the addition of the 814e SB, a jumbo-sized powerhouse with one of the prettiest bursts we've ever seen on a new production guitar. Combining a torrefied spruce top with extremely premium Honduran rosewood on the back and sides, the Gold Label 814e is the rare jumbo that can live up to the high water mark set by mid-century Gibsons and Guilds. Under the hood, Taylor bolster the already-splendid tone with their modified V-class bracing, which has been fanned and scalloped for an incredibly consistent tone that stays just as rich and full in the higher positions as it does in the lower ones. And while we obviously love the 814e's burst, we're also suckers for the exquisite, vintage-inspired multi-layer purfling and binding, with extensive abalone and mother-of-pearl inlay work that would look right at home on stage at the Opry. This is a fantastic new direction for Taylor and has become an instant favorite among our staff. Included in the price is a Gold Label hardshell case, with a limited edition British Cocoa tolex exterior.
