Description

Taylor Guitars are well known for not just their excellent sound but also their visual beauty, but even among all the fine Taylors we've carried, this 516e Custom from 2014 is one of the prettiest we've had in recent memory. The tone woods alone are among the finest and most dazzling we have on any guitar in our store, with highly figured Sitka spruce on top, beautiful flamed mahogany on the back and sides, and marbled ebony on the fretboard as well as the headstock overlay. Binding is also constructed from ebony and mahogany, and culminates on the bass side in a beveled armrest for the player's comfort. Finally, the guitar is coated in a full gloss finish, as is typical of all of Taylor's high-end inventory.

But lest you think the 516e is just a pretty face, rest assured that it plays like a dream as well. The Grand Symphony body shape is Taylor's take on the classic jumbo size and lends the guitar tremendous bass response and carrying power, but retains the trademark Taylor crispness on the high end. The instrument also of course comes with Taylor's Expression II pickup system, designed in-house for the best amplified representation of the acoustic sound of the guitar. This instrument is in excellent condition with virtually no scratches or dings anywhere on the top, even despite the lack of a pickguard. Included in the price is the original hard shell case.
