Description

Taylor's ongoing commitment to innovation means that lines and models are constantly being shuffled around in pursuit of something new and exciting - and while we love seeing their latest and greatest, sometimes it can be hard not to pine for models from prior years that the California-based manufacturer has since stepped away from. One of our favorites was the previous version of the 512ce, an ultra-playable acoustic/electric with an impressively warm sound considering its small shape. With a cedar top and a mahogany back and sides, this edition of the 512ce, which Taylor manufactured between 2016 and 2021, features tone woods no longer available on any of their new models, and a correspondingly rich and bassy sound that can be hard to get from guitars with denser tops (say, spruce or mahogany). But while the woods and visual appointments may be unfamiliar, the set up and action is trademark Taylor. Likewise, aficionados will note that as with all their U.S.-made guitars, this version of the 512ce still comes with the company's Expression II active pickup system. Included in the price is a hard-shell case.
