Description

Santa Cruz has been building the OM Pre-War for decades, and it's gradually asserted itself as one of the company's most enduring and popular designs. Strum a few chords on this lightly custom 2004 model and you'll quickly understand why - these instruments boast a big, open voice with enough volume and punch to rival even a high-end dreadnaught. A red spruce top is combined with a mahogany neck and an Indian rosewood back and sides for a tried-and-true wood combination that fills out the full frequency spectrum, and Richard Hoover and his team have delicately hand-scalloped the forward-shifted X-bracing for a rich and full sustain replete with warm low frequencies. This Pre-War features a slight modified V neck with a diamond volute for a marginally more rustic feel than most new instruments, but without hindering the player's ability stretch for big chords and wide voicings. Mother-of-pearl inlays and a herringbone inlay at the rosette help complete the package visually.

This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition, with cosmetic wear well below the average for a guitar with a few decades of pedigree. Most wear is confined to some very light dents and divots on the instrument's top which do not significantly impact its aesthetic appeal. There is no structural damage whatsoever, and the instrument has just had a full professional set up, including a fret dress, level, and re-crown. It plays very well in all positions, with medium low action. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
