Description

For almost 100 years, the National Style O has remained the first choice for countless acoustic blues players looking for the sort of punchy and powerful tone that only a steel-bodied resonator can provide. Sit down with this 2014 12-Fret model, and it won't take long to see that National still have the magic touch - it absolutely excels at fingerstyle blues like few other instruments can. Just like the first few that rolled out of the National factory in 1930, the Style O features a nickel-plated bell brass body in combination with a mahogany neck and a single 9.5" cone for the most unmistakable and original sound in the world of the resophonic guitar. Like the originals, this one also features the lightly engraved palm trees on the top that add a touch of old-time charm reminiscent of the Depression-era Hawaiian music craze. Best of all, this particular Style O features a National Hotplate coverplate pickup, which adds a single-coil, Telecaster-style neck pickup built right into the diamond sieve coverplate.

This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition. There is a very light amount of pick and fingernail scuffing, which is primarily confined to the top, and is significantly less than what might be expected to be seen on a ten-year-old chrome resophonic guitar. The most notable and visible scuffing is on the very top of the headstock, and is not generally visible when the instrument is being played. Playability is excellent, with low, comfortable action and a full, powerful tone up and down the neck. While the Hotplate pickup currently installed is not original, the original coverplate is included in the price, as is the original hard-shell case.

*Please note, per our return policy, all sales on used and consignment instruments are final.*
