Description
Martin's D-18 has remained one of their flagship models practically since its inception nearly 100 years ago, and players everywhere are familiar with its trademark tone, whether they know it or not - it's been the working axe of countless musicians in just about every style of guitar-based music. This used 2021 model provides our customers with a fantastic opportunity to get their hands on one at a serious discount, and we don't expect it to hang around long. While the D-18 has undergone minor redesigns over the decades, the core specs of a spruce top, mahogany neck, back, and sides, and a square-shoulder, 14-fret dreadnaught shape with a long scale length have remained more or less consistent year over year. This guitar doesn't reinvent the wheel because it doesn't have to. It's the platonic ideal of the country, rock, and bluegrass six-string, with a bright, punchy, and lively tone, ornamented with minimal Standard Series appointments that never go out of style.
The only significant wear on this guitar is a center-seam crack along the top that runs from the bottom of the bridge to the bottom of the lower bout. This crack has been glued and cleated, and should not reopen provided proper humidification in the future. Playing wear is well below average, and the crack is only visible when inspected closely. The sole aftermarket alteration is a chrome strap button, installed on the underside of the neck heel. Accordingly, we consider this guitar to be in very good condition. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
