Description
With the reintroduction of the company's storied D-17 model, Martin prove that they're still the first name in the world of the square-shoulder full scale dreadnaught, regardless of which tonewoods are being used. This lively, full-bodied instrument reacquaints pickers with just how good an all-mahogany build sheet can be, with a vibrant, rich sound not lacking in volume or top end. Taking after the company's classic 17 Series options of years past, the D-17 features an ebony bridge and fingerboard, a celluloid pickguard, and premium appointments like Grover nickel open-gear tuners and a diamonds and squares abalone fretboard inlay. But Martin have also updated the design with their premium Golden Era build options, including the trim level's scalloped, forward-shifted bracing and the neck contour present on their Modern Deluxe series. Guitarists interested in a different and dynamic tone from the company's 18 and 28 Series would be advised to give this one a whirl and discover just why Martin decided to bring the 17 Series back into production. Included in the price is a hard-shell case.
