Description

Martin's 00-37K was designed by the company in 2001 to celebrate the career of legendary American rocker Steve Miller, and is one of the most incredible instruments from the company's signature artist series that we've ever seen. It's also one of Martin's rarest, with only 68 ever being made - this one was number 28, according to the leaf inside the soundhole. While Steve was known primarily for his hard-rocking hits like "Fly Like an Eagle", this rather small guitar really excels in subtler applications like fingerstyle folk, thanks to its present and direct sound and a surprising amount of low end. The 00-37K paired a Sitka spruce top with a koa back and sides, and all the cuts of wood have opened up nicely over the last 20 years, resulting in a remarkably clear and lively tone. Visual appointments also set this instrument apart from the pack, with extensive use of abalone inlays, a bound body and fretboard, and on the neck block, a small engraving depicting the mask Steve wore on the cover of his classic 1973 album, The Joker.

Despite being over 20 years old, this guitar features very little in the way of visible playing wear, and boasts an excellent set up with comfortable action in all positions. No major repairs have been made on the instrument within its lifetime. We consider it to be in excellent condition; included in the price is the guitar's original hard-shell case.
