Description
Larrivée's Legacy Series boasts some of our favorite models currently being built by the California manufacturer, including this absolutely sterling D-40 Mahogany. With a Sitka spruce top and a mahogany back, sides, and neck in a square-shoulder, full-scale dreadnaught package, this instrument invokes some of the most classic American guitars of all time while offering Jean Larrivée's personal spin on the subject. The D-40 features hybrid-style scalloped bracing that retain some influence from the world of classical guitar luthierie, and boasts a big voice when strummed or flatpicked. We love the minimal beauty of the aesthetic appointments, too, including maple binding on the body and fingerboard and a rope pattern rosette and purfling. This is a lot of guitar by any measure, not just "for the price". Included in the price is a Larrivée hard-shell case.
