Larrivée D-40 Mahogany Legacy (2024)

Description

Larrivée's Legacy Series boasts some of our favorite models currently being built by the California manufacturer, including this absolutely sterling D-40 Mahogany, dating from 2024. With a Sitka spruce top and a mahogany back, sides, and neck in a square-shoulder, full-scale dreadnaught package, this instrument invokes some of the most classic American guitars of all time while offering Jean Larrivée's personal spin on the subject. The D-40 features hybrid-style scalloped bracing that retain some influence from the world of classical guitar luthierie, and boasts a big voice when strummed or flatpicked. We love the minimal beauty of the aesthetic appointments, too, including maple binding on the body and fingerboard and a rope pattern rosette and purfling.

This instrument arrived in our store on the upper end of very good condition, with cosmetic wear confined to just light scuffing on the pickguard and a small white scratch on the headstock, about 15mm in length. Set up and playability are very good and well within factory spec. Included in the price is the original Larrivée hard-shell case.
