While we love everything that Virginia's Huss & Dalton build, we've obviously got a real affinity for their dreadnaughts - and after playing a few G runs on this 2000 DM Custom, you'll understand exactly why we feel so strongly about it. Lightly customized by way of a large soundhole for added low end and sustain, the DM combines a spruce top with a mahogany neck, back, and sides in a square-shoulder D design for a classic build sheet that calls to mind some of the most popular American steel-strings ever made. While the models that inspired it may not commonly be used for acoustic lead, the DM Custom's bright and cutting mids and trebles give it a percussive snap that allows it to leap to the forefront of a stringband, while a lighter right hand will bring out warm, luxurious lows. Huss & Dalton keep the aesthetics relatively minimal, but we love the subtle touches like the guitar's maple binding and the zigzag backstripe.

This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition, with relatively light playing wear overall but especially given its age. There is no evidence of major repair, and the guitar is structurally sound, with no damage or cracks. The neck is fairly straight with moderate relief, and the guitar plays comfortably in all positions, with no fret buzz. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
