Description
A Gibson J-45 is one of the rare six-strings that can truly be called "iconic" - these classic American dreadnaughts have been the acoustic guitar of choice for countless musicians throughout the history of folk, rock, country, blues, and beyond. As we're not Gibson dealers, we leap at the opportunity to represent these instruments when they make their way into our shop, and this used one from 2016 was an obvious choice for us to take in on consignment. The J-45 utilises a classic slope-shoulder design and all solid wood construction with a spruce top and a mahogany back, sides, and neck for a versatile and full-bodied sound that just gets better the more you dig in with your right hand. A beautiful dark sunburst finish on top completes the package visually, with a look that's all Gibson. The J-45 now comes stock with an L.R. Baggs VTC active pickup system pre-installed, too.
This instrument has seen a fairly typical amount of use and does show some minor cosmetic wear, including some very minimal damage to the finish on top, and a finish crack that runs from the bridge down to the bottom of the lower bout. The pickguard is non-original and has been replaced with something visually similar to what the guitar would've been shipped with initially. It cannot be determined whether the truss rod cover is original or not. Altogether, we consider the guitar to be on the lower end of very good condition. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
