Description
When it comes to the acoustic guitar, not much can compare to a Collings. All of us here at the Denver Folklore Center are already head-over-heels for this wonderful D3 from the Texas-based manufacturer, which we ordered with a torrefied top as a custom upgrade. The D3 picks up where the D2 leaves off, with all of the classic sound and projection that a spruce and rosewood dreadnaught provides, but with some extra visual appointments like a bound fretboard, headstock, gold-plated tuners, and an abalone rosette. But don't go thinking the D3 is just a pretty face - on the contrary, it boasts even more bass, clearer trebles, and a truly stunning amount of volume when compared to the D2. Best of all, the torrefaction adds some extra openness and snarl to the spruce and gives this already great guitar a near-vintage sound right out of the box. It's a deluxe dreadnaught for the player who's not willing to compromise. Included in the price is a Collings hard-shell case.
