Description

Think you've heard everything already? We dare you to give a listen to the gorgeous, resonant sound of a mandocello and not walk away impressed - especially this one, a 2008 mandocello from Weber Mandolins, built after Bruce's very popular Hyalite model, prized for their versatility, ease of play, and reasonable price. The mandocello has the same range as a regular cello, but its strings are paired in courses of two, and it's played with a pick, like a mandolin or mandola. That makes it a great choice either for mandolinists who want to try something with a deeper, more powerful voice, or for cellists who are curious about playing a fretted instrument. This mandocello, like all of the instruments in Weber's Hyalite line, features a solid Sitka spruce top and sides constructed with solid mahogany, for a very rich and present sound that balances the naturally dark timbre of the cello's range. A minimal stain is applied to the instrument's top, and a Celtic knot adorns the headstock for some visual flair.

This mandocello has arrived in our store in excellent condition, with next to no evidence of playing wear on the body, neck, or frets. The set up is very good, and is friendly to players who have not yet played the large strings that mandocellos require to produce their exceptionally present sound. Included in the price is the original hard-shell case.
